We head to the beach in the very early morning hours looking for the phenomenal tracks left by the giant sea turtles as they slowly crawl from the water to lay their eggs. Imagine the thousands of miles that these turtles have swam in the ocean just to return to their birthplace, laying their eggs and keeping the cycle going. As industry and development expands, this is one of only a few places left in the world where you can witness this natural wonder.

You can follow the nestings on our tracking charts and by asking the Front Desk personnel for more information, maybe you can witness this once in a lifetime opportunity to see the elusive Leatherback. Daily walks down the beach into the North East Corridor will bring you to flagged nesting sites and you can have a chance to photograph the tracks and any emerging babies.

Note: Photographing Leatherbacks during the night is strongly discouraged as the flash on the camera may scare them and abort the egg laying process.
