Puerto Rico is located 995 miles southeast of Miami Florida, and is 110 miles long and 35 miles wide. Major airline connections are through Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) in San Juan.

Car rental and taxi service are available from the airport. Car rental companies run pick up vans continuously, and advance reservations are recommended. Luquillo is located on the north coast at the eastern end of the island.

From Airport to Luquillo Sunrise

A. Scenic Route (recommended in the daytime)

Step 1: Take exit to San Juan
Go approximately 1/4 mile and turn right (just before Embassy Suites) onto Route 187 toward "Pinones and Loiza". This turn is immediately before going under the bridge.

This route follows the north coast line approximately 8 miles to Loiza. 1 mile onto Rt. 187, immediately after crossing bridge at marina, a stop at "The Reef" (left turn - look for sign) gives you a great ocean view looking into Metro San Juan, a great deck to enjoy a cool drink after your flight.

Rt. 187 ends at a traffic light at the edge of Loiza. Turn right and go approximately 4 miles to Route 3.

Step 2: Turn left on Route 3 toward Fajardo for about 20 minutes.

Step 3: Click here to see map. After passing the beach kiosko's (60 food stands), turn left at traffic light into Luquillo. Three high rise condos will be in front of you.
Turn right at "T" for 3 blocks
Take first left after ballpark
Take first right toward ocean
Turn right and go 1 block to Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn.

B. Direct Route

Step 1: When leaving airport take exit to Carolina onto Route 26 for 5 miles.

Step 2: Turn left onto Route 3 toward Fajardo for 20 minutes

C. Optional Direct (saves 5-10 minutes travel time - $1.50 toll)

Step 2: At Carolina take Rt. 66 bypass rather that Rt 3 exit
At end of Rt 66, turn right onto Rt 3 toward Fajardo for 20 minutes
